The french have a bit of a history of creating some very compelling and stylized animation. These two shorts are just amazing. I wish someone would make a movie like this. Meet Buck is my favorite of the two. How about you?

I found this guy’s work through a post about his upcoming Star Wars prints. I have always loved this older sort of style for movie posters and pretty much anything else. He does a great job combining layers of imagery that have several meanings at once. Check out all his sweet work at his site or order the upcoming Star Wars prints at Mondo Tees.
Here is another great image from the CGsociety forums. The artist, Iker Cortázar, does a great job in every aspect of the image. The composition is simple, but really showcases the character. This guy is shrewd for sure. Would you want him as your banker?

A friend, knowing Dr. Strangelove is my favorite movie, sent this along to me. I will be looking to see if I can find a print of this. It looks to be relatively limited. I love how the artist, Jason Munn tied in the red phone with the other, more obvious, themes of the movie. I shall leave you with a clip of the movie, and remember, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!
This series of videos is one of my favorite video game related spin offs. Each character is fleshed out so well in just a short segment. The quality of writing and animation reminds me of Pixar, which is a huge accomplishment.

Space Worker by Guillaume Tiberghien is another cg society image I have always enjoyed. I suppose from the title that he must be some sort of grunt sent to fix or move big things, but I certainly wouldn’t want to get on that guys bad side. He looks like he has a mean streak. Or perhaps he is just late for his union coffee break?
Sometimes I like to go to peruse the cgsociety forums to see what people are up to. They showcase some great things in their CG choice galleries, both 2D and 3D. This is an image I remember finding along time ago. After searching through a few hundred pages, I found it again. I love the simple beauty and the lighting is awesome. I really just want to go up there and have a glass of wine with that lady. I’m not even much of a wine drinker. That says something. Check out more of Erwin’s work on his portfolio page.
